I haven’t logged into NamePros forum for a couple of days, but today I noticed that they added a new domain sales category called “Liquid Domains.” This update came as a result of suggestions from numerous members requesting that a new category be added to specifically accommodate short domain auctions. These short domains are sometimes referred to as liquid domains because they have intrinsic value and can easily be sold or liquidated in the reseller market. Short domains may include: NN.com, CC.com, LL.com, CCC.com, LLL.com, NNN.com, NNNN.com, and LLLL.com. For those of you that don’t know, “N” stands for Numbers or Numerics, “C” stands for Characters, and “L” stands for Letters.
This addition comes as the market activity for short domain names have been growing significantly in recent times. NamePros primarily serves the reseller market, but it is now seriously competing against other reseller marketplaces like GoDaddy Auctions, eBay, NameJet, and Flippa. I think this was a good move for NamePros because it will further help organize their sales forum and buyers of short domains can easily find what they’re looking for without weeding through a bunch of other listings. Financial-wise, it’s great for both sellers and buyers because NamePros does not charge any fees for listings.
